Cleaning Up & Refined Alert System

I went through all my sites today, checking that all scripts, plugins etc. were up-to-date and also did some general cleaning. I’m also taking into a use a further refined alert system that makes it possible for me to post hiatus, server problem etc. notices both on my main domain Crystal Fires that must have everything and only to the site in question (when it comes back online) unlike to all my sites like before – it’s also possible post it on the main domain as well as to either all sites if all are affected or to say to 3, if only 3 sites are affected. So less off topic news to each site with this upgrade.

This post works as a test of the refined system: if everything works as it should, this post should show up on all of my sites.

TrekCaps.Net Gets The Ex Astris Excellentia Award

I never submitted this site for any awards, so it stunned me to learn that TrekCaps.Net was selected for the June 2012 Ex Astris Excellentia Award! Thank you so much, it’s an honor!

Although Ariane’s Star Trek Gallery had been in existence since the last century already, I only discovered the site some three years ago when I was looking for screen caps from the movie “Star Trek (2009)”. Ariane’s site at Trekcaps.net comes with a wonderful design and presents high-quality screen caps and high-resolution photos from all Star Trek series, plus some fan artwork. On the more technical side, it is not just another fan-made Star Trek image gallery but a professionally organized site that takes advantage of the latest techniques, much like commercial image communities such as Flickr or Deviantart. I would like to thank Ariane for maintaining the site for so long and for always keeping it up to date despite all the technical difficulties and occasional hosting disasters. This EAS Award is particularly well deserved!

Reuploading TOS Caps – Want To Help Me???

Looks like Multiupload has closed its doors permanently. Guess I’ll be re-uploading all TOS caps, and this time they will be going to gallery. This won’t be a quick process, because I’ll have to weed out the bad caps and I loath doing that and it takes me hours to weed one episode. If anyone wants to help me do that, please please e-mail me at ariane666@gmail.com – you’ll get your name as a contributor right here on the site and my undying gratitude.

What helping me entail is the following: I’ll upload episode caps for you in zip or rar format, you download them and go through the about 3400 caps and weed out the bad and a lot of the duplicate ones. Then you upload the caps to my server. Either you (if you are familiar with Coppermine, or don’t mind learning) or I add them to the gallery – if you do, it’ll show in the gallery that you added them, so you’ll get the credit for the work you’ve done! You could do as few or as many episodes as you wish, and there’d be no deadline on how fast to get them up or anything like that. Basically, any help at all would be much appreciated indeed!

Multiupload?

What’s everyone’s experience lately been with http://www.multiupload.com? Have you been able to download from there or even get there at all, after the Megaupload shutdown? Reason I’m asking is that I have only been able to get there a few times since then because the site’s been nearly every time I tried to go there, and  the past week and a half or so, it’s been down every time. Wondering if they shutdown on their own (after Megaupload, I wouldn’t blame them), and I should just count all my TOS screencap uploads there well lost too :/
